By the Edwardian era, front doors had become even more elaborate. Glass panels were now sometimes curved at the edges rather than wholly rectangular, and beautiful decorative aprons were often added to the wooden mid-rail.
Edwardian front door designs can be truly breath-taking, building upon the Victorian theme of grandeur. Multiple leaded glass panes might be incorporated into the door in a variety of configurations and shapes. Stained glass was often combined with textured glass to stunning effect. Intricate mouldings and aprons might also be added to the door to give further detail and interest.
However, the Edwardians also understood the power of clean and classic designs. Elegant and uncomplicated four-panelled doors are still seen throughout the Edwardian period, often paired with simple etched glass panels.
