Description

Very few Georgian front doors had as much glass as this door, but this really show how good a glazed front door can look- a classic Georgian 12 light door. In the Georgian period, its was only feasible to make small pieces of glass.  This was because the technology had not yet been developed.  To create larger areas of glass, several small panes were either set into leadwork, or divided with wooden Georgian glazing bar.  This elegant design has 12 pieces of glass with two decorative panels.  Georgian 12 light doors were often painted black gloss as the pigments for the paint were readily available.
