Fitting Service

A fitting service is provided from Southgate to any area where it is economically viable for us to travel. In practice this usually means London and the Home Counties. For the larger contract, teams can be sent countrywide. Our carpenters are fully trained to our high standards - we do not subcontract our work. Where we are required to fit, an experienced surveyor will attend to supply on the spot advice and quotations for our products. We would emphasise that we do not employ 'salesmen' as such working on commission. Our quotations are entirely free and NO follow-up calls will be made, or inducements offered, to place business with us.

Supply Only

We are able to supply our range of doors and joinery to those customers who have their own carpenters or who fall outside our fitting area. This can be for just the doors, to doors fully treated and supplied with a range of appropriate furniture and locks as a package. Prices and carriage changes can be quoted on request.

Joinery Polishing Service

We strongly recommend that exterior timber be either painted with any good proprietary paint, following the manufacturers instructions, or as is more usual treated with a microporous wood treatment which will enhance the natural beauty of the timber and provide a long-lasting finish. We use Glassodecor, a product manufactured by Glasurit Beck Ltd., which is available in seven shades and, in our experience, is the best of the wood treatment products.

Interior doors may also be treated with Glassodecor, or any other finish which provides protection, such as spray lacquer, varnish, pale polish, french polishing etc.

Door Advice

When selecting an external door ensure that it has no veneered sections, that it is solid timber (no MDF or plywood sections), that the panels are manufactured from one piece of timber and not 'engineered', and most importantly, that the construction is of the thorough mortice and tenon type.

Our standard doors are, in the main, made from lauan, which is a good quality Far Eastern hardwood harvested from sustainable sources.
